Matcha Green Tea! I am sure you have heard about it before. Maybe you've tried it. Maybe not! I was first introduced to Matcha Green Tea years ago when it become my go to drink at Starbucks. The milky Green goodness always gave me a mid-day pick me up that kept me level headed and productive. As I got older, I began consciously avoiding franchises and drive-thrus for eating and drinking. I also became more aware of what I put in and on my body.
One awareness I have had for a long time but never did anything about was my coffee consumption. Up to four cups before noon with another one or two after lunch, I knew I needed to cut my habit but never made the commitment.
i recently tried acupuncture for the first time (post to come next week!). During my consultation my practitioner asked if I have ever tried chlorophyll in my diet for my excessive sweating. Since I had not, I was eager to try her suggestion. She also told me that after acupuncture the body is drawn to the things the body needs most.
Straight from my first appointment I went to the health food store to get chlorophyll. I also decided to pick up some Matcha Green Tea to try and make a replica of my favorite Starbucks drink!
As soon as I got home I started to read the health benefits of Matcha Green Tea. Up there with its intense antioxidant powers is its high chlorophyll content! I should have known considering its Green coloring and Earthy taste. Before my online investigation I had no idea that the Matcha Green Tea I was drawn to had the exact nutrients I was recommended.
The next morning I skipped the coffee and made my first homemade Matcha Green Tea Latte! After a few days of trial and error I think I have the recipe to my liking, reducing bitterness by controlling water temperature.
